Are you holding a grudge? About?

I had recently visited our local WalNarts. My wife and I parked and made our walk across the lot, heading for the crosswalks. Our conversation was light chat, we had just enjoyed a nice dinner and decided to shop a bit.

Making our way into the store, we secure a shopping cart and proceed inside. Without any distractions, we begin loading our cart. Moving into the dairy, we rounded the corner with laughter and bumped into each other now and then with a joke and a chuckle, and I looked out across the dairy’s display. I saw the Smiths, without a moment passing, and my laughter instantly vanished when I laid eyes on them.

Why, you may ask, are the toxic feelings generated by the casual occurrence of seeing a person you disagree with in life, thereby forming a developed ‘grudge’ against this person? The silent war of passive maneuvering takes over the dairy aisle. What is happening is that the dislike has taken over our better thinking.

When I approach their shopping cart to pass them in the store, my blood pressure rises, and my thoughts turn sour. Hate, dislike, the feeling of the past gone by, and the dirty deeds done.

How can this happen, making it twice as hard to be in a constant war of dislike for anyone pushing your mind and body into an unhealthy state of mind? Hating and grudging take so much more energy from our conscious thinking.

Letting go and feeling free of the evil and demons that torment our lives, keeping us in bondage, forcing us to do things that are against our natural tendencies.

Moral: get over it and live free of the bonds that tie us to these spiteful emotions.
