Throughout my married life, I have had two sets of parents, which has resulted in a considerable number of experiences that could be considered part of our family’s history. My wife’s father served as an aircraft pilot during the Vietnam War and the Bay of Pigs and recounted various accounts from his service.
One item held by the family is a footlocker originally belonging to Captain Paul Tibbits, who piloted the aircraft involved in the first atomic bombing over Japan. This footlocker contains personal effects and other items.
Discussions have taken place within the family regarding potential options for the footlocker and its contents, including donating it to a museum where interested parties might learn about its background. These conversations reflect an interest in preserving and sharing aspects of family history related to military service.
Our family, Including Dads, moms, sons, and daughters, is proud and honored to have served and protected our freedom, contributing to the greatness of the United States of America. God Bless America.
