What historical event do you remember?

Assassination of President Kennedy

It was mid-afternoon in November of 1963, just before the Thanksgiving holiday, my dad and his friend, whom I can’t remember, took me for a ride to the IGA store in Grove Hill, Ohio, where we lived. I was in the back seat as my dad pulled up to the parking space. I sat up in the back seat as he reached for the dashboard radio and turned it up. The next thing I heard was him say to his friend. “Someone shot the President.”

I looked at the shock on their faces and the comments they made to themselves. They sat there for a minute or so, soon leaving the car for the store.

From that day on, this was one historical moment I will never forget. It burned the event into my permanent memory, and many more historical memories followed.
