Nothing, I pretty much hated school. A long haul, but I made it to the end.
We moved to damn much from school to school in such short durations of time. Making friends was my forte. Since studies were like eating chocolate cake to me, I aced school with no effort. But I still dislike it all.
Subjects I studied were not of much interest to me. It was in the ninth grade that I was approached by a teacher who had a strong background in quartets. When I spoke in class, my voice pointed him toward a new after-school hobby: Barber Shop Quarteting. Needless to say, singing bass and baritone gave me a new outlook and interest in school.

College gave me my first insight into liking education; it was there that I found the niche to engage in studies and finally found my way when the dust settled. I was set for nothing less than a Master’s Degree. Moving on to my doctorate, I was a full-time dad, husband, and breadwinner, leaving me unable to continue. Maybe this post will inspire me and give me a sense of direction for what I can do now that the kids are grown and in college themselves.
The best part of education sums up how our lives turn out.
