Our RV is currently in the body shop being repaired after a rather unfortunate incident during our visit to Sheridan, Wyoming. While we were enjoying the scenic views and the small-town charm, we decided to bring home a little souvenir of our trip, although it turned out to be an unexpected one. A young teen driver, perhaps a bit inexperienced and overly eager, got a little too close to our beloved RV while attempting to back out of a parking spot. In a moment of poor judgment, he backed into our ladder, pushing his car as far as he could before our RV firmly put a stop to his advance. The damage to both vehicles occurred as the contact took place, leading to a rather stressful situation that dampened the joy of our travels. Now, we are anxiously awaiting the repairs, reminiscing about the beautiful landscapes we traversed while hoping for a smoother journey in the future.
We have been chomping at the bit to get away for a night anywhere. The RV has become our complete hideaway from the world, a sanctuary where we can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The thrill of hitting the road, surrounded by nature, is something that invigorates our spirits.
This year, planning has set the stage for an exciting Fall excursion to the upper part of North Carolina, where we’ll cross the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains. We remind ourselves that while this isn’t a second trip to the Appalachians, it just might be our first trip in Bessie, our trusty RV. Our previous long vacations have often taken us westward, over the Rockies and far beyond, but this new journey feels special.
Our adventures to the hills have primarily been limited to visits to the M3 Ranch, where our son-in-law’s family resides. Each time we’ve been there, we’ve always thought about what else the great outdoors has to offer. Now, this trip is a chance for us to explore the beautiful landscapes, vibrant fall colors, and perhaps uncover hidden gems along the way.
As we embark on this new journey, we are filled with excitement and anticipation. We plan to document our travels with plenty of sightseeing opportunities and, of course, a plethora of photos.
